Keeping track of budgets, forecasting and scheduling jobs proved to be very challenging working only with Excel and Outlook. We were looking for a solution that can adapt to our way of working, while keeping proper record of what needs to happen, by who as well as showing where we have availabilities or conflicts.
farmerswife has allowed producers, production managers, and coordinators to have a birds-eye view of what is happening across the suites, operators, and equipment as well as budgets. This allows for quicker decision making, fewer conflicts with equipment and machines, and ultimately improves studio efficiency and turnaround times.
I’m constantly amazed by the flexibility of the system. The way it is able to adapt to our way of doing things and our lingo. From the initial setup to ongoing changes, nothing seems to be impossible. There’s always more than one way to achieve something, which speaks to the flexibility of the system.
The main function is to create cost estimates for clients/jobs and then monitoring the budget. We also use farmerswife to schedule suites, operators (staff, freelancers, artists etc), equipment and manage Purchase Orders. We are currently building reports with farmerswife to give cash flow and forecasting figures on all active jobs in the system to match with our own internal finance system.
Having one place where all the information lives, integrated with our Exchange, accessible by the whole team on different levels, is a huge improvement and definitely worth the investment.
